Jim Smith

Jim Smith has extensive experience in engineering and technology development, currently serving as a member of the BWP Group since November 2019, which focuses on advanced permanent magnet motor and generator technologies. Since July 2015, Jim Smith has held the position of Chief Technology Engineer at General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works, contributing to the development of complex technical features for US Navy surface combatants. As the owner of Sound View Technology, LLC since November 2006, Jim Smith provides consulting services in mechanical and electric machine design. Previous roles include President of Core Innovation, LLC, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Boulder Wind Power, Director of Product Integration at DRS Power Technology, and Director of Advanced Concepts at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corporation. Jim Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earned between 1970 and 1976.
