Micah Casteel

Micah Casteel is a seasoned professional in the field of mechanical design engineering, currently serving as a Senior Research Mechanical Design Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory since January 2021, where expertise is focused on solid oxide electrolysis and the hydrogen economy. Casteel is also the founder of Beyond Electrons, a consulting firm specializing in energy conversion and storage, providing comprehensive technical consulting across various technology stacks. Previously, Casteel founded Electrochemical Engines LLC, which emphasized innovative manufacturing for solid oxide technology, and worked as a Senior Engineer at FuelCell Energy, contributing to advanced research and development across multiple projects. Casteel’s engineering background includes a Mechanical Engineer role at Versa Power Systems and extensive research experience as a Graduate Researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, complemented by a robust academic foundation with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering.
