Nicolas Martin

Senior Reactor Physicist at Idaho National Laboratory

Nicolas Martin is a Senior Reactor Physicist at Idaho National Laboratory since August 2019, specializing in the design and licensing of advanced nuclear reactor concepts, including Microreactors and Sodium-cooled Fast reactors. Martin develops high-fidelity core physics models for both normal and accidental conditions and is an expert in neutronics Monte Carlo codes and MOOSE-based safety analysis codes. Prior to this role, Martin worked as an engineer at AREVA NP from June 2011 to July 2019, focusing on BWR neutronics codes and methods. Martin's early experience includes a research internship at IRSN, where critical safety computational methods were developed and validated, and an internship at CEA involving fresh fuel loading and transportation of used fuel assemblies for fast reactors. Academic qualifications include a PhD and M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal, along with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Institut Superieur de Mecanique - SUPMECA.
