Private Equity Partner at Battery Ventures

Dave joined Battery in 1995. In 2016, he transitioned from a general partner to a senior advisor to the firm. In 2018, Dave returned full time to Battery as a private equity partner and is actively involved in all phases of the investment process.

Over his time with the firm, Dave’s areas of interest have ranged from startups, such as creating BladeLogic (NASDAQ: BLOG, acquired by BMC) with an entrepreneur-in-residence; emerging companies, such as SingleHop; and buyouts, such as the take-privates of Consona (formerly Made2Manage Systems), Quovadx (resulting in Healthvision and Rogue Wave), Vero Software (acquired by Hexagon) and Forterro (formerly Jeeves). Dave has extensive experience with a variety of business models ranging from traditional license software to software-as-a-service, as well as business-services companies and exchanges.

Dave’s current portfolio includes DomainTools, EASY SOFTWARE (XTRA: ESY), Forest2Market and Forterro. In addition, Dave currently sits on the board of Nova Instruments/Metrix. His previous investments include BladeLogic (NASDAQ: BLOG, acquired by BMC); Consona (acquired by Vista Equity); Data Innovations (acquired by Roper Industries); Enviance (acquired by Cority); Healthvision (acquired by Lawson Software); HighJump Software (acquired by Accellos); IHS (acquired by Sabre); Rogue Wave Software (acquired by Audax Private Equity); SingleHop (acquired by Internap); and Vero Software (acquired by Hexagon).

Prior to Battery, Dave worked for investment consulting firm Cambridge Associates, where he conducted research on the venture capital industry and evaluated venture capital firms for clients. Dave graduated from Dartmouth College.
