Senior Scientist at Bavarian Nordic

Jørgen Sauer has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Jørgen currently works as a Senior Scientist at Bavarian Nordic since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Novo Nordisk from 2012 to 2022, where they held roles as a Manufacturing Development Chemist and Chemist. At Novo Nordisk, they were involved in chemical and biochemical fermentation, purification process support, and optimization of processes related to fermentations and recovery. Before that, they worked as a Post Doc at the University of Copenhagen from 2007 to 2011, where they focused on enzymatic methods for detecting carbohydrates and chemical modification of proteins and peptides. Jørgen also worked as an Account Manager at GE Healthcare in 2006, a Research Scientist at ALK Abelló from 2003 to 2005, and a Research Scientist at Pharmexa A/S from 2002 to 2003. In their earlier years, they were a Ph.D student at Carlsberg, where they conducted research on glucoamylase from Aspergillus niger.

Jørgen Sauer obtained a Ph.D in Protein Chemistry from Carlsberg Research Center, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Protein Chemistry at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 1987 to 1997. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in cGMP Interpretation and Application from John Lee in November 2012, and in Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in February 2012. Jørgen also has a certification in Lean Six Sigma and DFSS (Green Belt) from the Aveta Business Institute.
