Sam Akins

Sam Akins is a seasoned professional currently serving as the Sr. Director of R&D Program Management for Baxter's Patient Support Systems and Global Surgical Systems businesses. Previously, Sam held several leadership roles, including Director of the Program Management Office at BD for its $2B Vascular Access Device business and Associate R&D Director, where they built a team of approximately 30 engineers and technicians. With extensive experience in mechanical engineering, Sam has contributed to various medical device startups and established companies, overseeing product development and system integration. Sam earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
