John N. Aucott

Scientific Advisor at Bay Area Lyme Foundation

Dr. Aucott is an international expert in clinical research on the diagnosis and epidemiology of Lyme disease. He is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Lyme Disease Research Center (www.hopkinslyme.org). Dr. Aucott is the Principal Investigator for the landmark SLICE STUDY (Study of Lyme Disease Immunology and Clinical Events), a prospective cohort study examining the impact of Lyme disease on long-term health outcomes and immune function. The SLICE Study is the center of a network of over 20 collaborators around the country examining blood samples for diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the improved diagnosis and treatment of all stages of Lyme disease. Dr. Aucott is an internationally recognized authority on Lyme disease and has served on groups sponsored by the Institute of Medicine, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the American Academy for the Advancement of Science and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where he was the Chair of the 2018-2019 HHS Tick-borne Diseases Working Group.
