Al Fields has extensive experience in the field of news production, currently serving as associate editor at Bay Area News Group since May 2008, overseeing copy desks. Fields has held similar positions at Contra Costa Times/Bay Area News Group since 2007 and previously managed news production at ANG Newspapers from January 2001 to March 2007. Early career roles included copy editing and page design at Santa Rosa Press Democrat and Fairfield Daily Republic, as well as serving as news editor at Oakland Tribune. Fields began a career in journalism as a sports writer and columnist at Stockton Record from September 1982 to May 1995. Al Fields holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of the Pacific.
