Gerd Wohlfahrt

Computational Molecular Design - Senior Scientific Director

Gerd Wohlfahrt has extensive experience in the field of structural bioinformatics and computational molecular design. Beginning as a PhD student at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research from 1992 to 1995, Gerd transitioned to a postdoc role until 1996. Following this, Gerd worked as a postdoc at VTT Biotechnology from December 1996 to August 1998, focusing on molecular modeling and bioinformatics. Gerd served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne from September 1998 to September 2000, specializing in structural bioinformatics. Subsequently, at Orion Pharma from 2000 to December 2019, Gerd advanced through various roles, culminating in the position of Senior Principal Scientist. Since January 2020, Gerd has held the position of Senior Scientific Director in Computational Molecular Design at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Gerd's academic foundation is supported by a Diplom in Chemistry with a focus on Biotechnology from Technische Universität Braunschweig, completed between 1984 and 1991.
