Giuseppe Gallone

Giuseppe Gallone, PhD, is a Lead Data Scientist in Human Genomics at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, focusing on human genetics and computational genomics for early research, target discovery, and validation since December 2019. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, where responsibilities involved detecting structural variations in rare congenital diseases and supervising student projects in machine learning applications. Previously, Giuseppe held the position of Senior Computational Biologist at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, contributing to the Deciphering Developmental Disorders project, and worked as a Lecturer in bioinformatics at the University of Cambridge. Giuseppe completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Disease Genomics at the University of Oxford and began a career as a Software Engineer at IBM. Giuseppe earned a PhD in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology from The University of Edinburgh, along with an MS in Bioinformatics and Neural Computation and a Laurea in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Bari.
