Thomas Betzel

Thomas Betzel serves as the Principal Laboratory Manager at Bayer since April 2021, bringing extensive experience in the field of chemistry and radiopharmaceuticals. Previously, Betzel was the Project Manager for Global Manufacturing at Life Molecular Imaging from May 2015 to March 2021, where responsibilities included Chemistry Manufacturing Control for South East Europe. Prior to that role, Betzel worked as a Chemist in Research and Development at Eckert & Ziegler Eurotope GmbH and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at ETH Zurich, focusing on the design and synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals. Earlier academic and research experiences include a Research Chemist position at the University of Mainz and a Diploma in Chemistry from the same institution, complemented by a study abroad program at Stony Brook University. Betzel obtained a Doctorate in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Mainz, following a Bachelor’s degree focused on synthesis of boron-coupled peptides.
