Paul Duan

President at Bayes Impact

Paul Duan is the current President at Bayes Impact. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Scientist at Eventbrite from January 2013 to June 2014. During their time there, they developed machine learning algorithms that handled transaction volumes totaling over one billion dollars annually in order to detect fraudulent events and orders. Paul also worked on event classification algorithms and anti-spam systems, recommender systems, and all things data science at Eventbrite. Under their leadership, the false positive rate of the fraud models was reduced by 20x while detection rates were improved.

Paul Duan visited the University of California, Berkeley as a student in the Berkeley Excellence in Scholarship and Achievement Program (BESAP). Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Sciences Po, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne.
