Nathan Grimes, Ph.D., is an experienced application scientist specializing in novel mass spectrometry at BaySpec Inc., where responsibilities include the development of miniature linear ion trap mass spectrometers and new ambient ionization sources. Previous roles include a research scientist at Detect-Ion, focusing on thermal desorption subsystems for miniature GC-MS and breath diagnostics, and a PhD candidate at the University of South Florida, where instrumentation development for FAIMS/DMS-MS was conducted. Nathan also contributed as a product developer at The Coca-Cola Company, leading to a patent in reducing enzymatic browning in juice products, and has experience in bacterial infection research and heavy metal detection during earlier research positions at the University of Florida and University of Central Florida. Nathan holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Central Florida.
