Ray Laplante currently serves as Vice President of Business Optimization at BAYSTAR since April 2025. Prior to this role, Ray held various positions at Westlake Chemical from December 2006 to March 2025, including Director of PE Business & Technology, where oversight of daily polyethylene business operations and technology was a primary responsibility. Ray's extensive career includes significant roles such as Director of Engineering & Operations and Plant Manager in Longview, TX at Westlake Chemical, and Polyethylene Technology Manager at Ingenia Polymers. Previous experience includes a decade at Chevron Chemical as Global Commercialization Manager and HDPE Product Manager, as well as a role as R&D Techpolymers Engineer at Exxon Chemical. Ray's academic credentials include a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earlier education at Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, Ray served as Past Chairman of the University of Massachusetts College of Engineering Advisory Council.
