Ellen Smithline

Ellen Smithline, PhD, RN, CEN, currently serves as the Director of Professional Practice Emergency & Critical Care and the ED Program Director of Professional Practice, Outcomes & Quality at Baystate Health since October 2022. Prior experience includes Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager for COVID-19 isolation at Clinical & Support Options, Inc. (April 2020 - October 2022). Ellen has also held academic roles as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and contributed to nursing research as a Research Assistant within the PhD program. A seasoned emergency nurse, experience includes serving in various roles at Mercy Medical Center and Baystate Medical Center, where significant contributions were made in nursing education, emergency medicine, and program development in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Educational achievements include a PhD and MS in Nursing Science from Elaine Marieb College of Nursing, as well as a BS and nursing diploma from Mount Carmel College of Nursing.
