Balram Veliath

Balram Veliath is an experienced professional with a robust background in risk management, quality assurance, and audit. Currently serving as a Non Executive Director at NHS Digital since July 2018 and as Director of Quality, Risk and Assurance at BBC since January 2017, Veliath oversees critical functions such as Internal Audit and Risk Management. Previous roles include Head of Controls, Services at RBS, where a first line risk and control structure was established for over 600 staff, and Chief Risk Officer for Business Services at RBS, managing second line oversight of risk management. Additional experience includes leadership positions in audit at ABN AMRO Bank and KPMG, where global audit strategies were developed, and strong client relationships were fostered. Veliath holds a Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
