Tamsin Nooney

Tamsin Nooney is a Senior R&D Engineer specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) with extensive experience at the BBC since September 2018, where responsibilities include leading end-to-end NLP development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in the field. Previously, Tamsin held roles as NLP Team Lead and R&D Engineer, focusing on creating reusable tools for content analysis using machine learning. Tamsin's early career at BBC R&D included participation in a two-year graduate scheme, working on projects involving super-resolution techniques and AI applications for live event coverage. Prior to joining the BBC, Tamsin was engaged in particle physics research at Queen Mary University of London, culminating in a PhD in Physics, with involvement in the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Educational qualifications include an MSci in Physics and Astronomy from UCL.
