Sarah Garvey

Diversity Director at BCG Attorney Search

Sarah Garvey has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Sarah started their career as an intern at Massachusetts Correctional Legal Services in 1992 and later worked as an intern at Eastern Service Workers Association in 1993. In 1994, they volunteered at Lakes Crisis Center before joining law firms such as Milbank LLP and Morrison & Foerster LLP as an associate attorney specializing in banking and leveraged finance.

Sarah then worked as a staff writer at Los Angeles Daily Journal in 2003 and as a lawyer and writer at Shouse Law Group from 2010 to 2011. Moving forward, they founded their two-person civil rights law firm, York & Garvey/California Police Brutality Lawyers, in 2012 as a partner representing victims of police brutality and misconduct.

In 2017, they transitioned into the role of Diversity Director at BCG Attorney Search, where they support diverse legal talent in finding job opportunities, offers mentorship and post-placement support, and writes articles focused on diversity and inclusion best practices.

In addition to their legal career, Sarah also has experience as a photographer and filmmaker at Prairie Girl Productions from 2002 to 2009, directing and editing independent documentary films on various topics.

Sarah Garvey's education history includes a J.D. in Law from Harvard Law School. Sarah also holds a Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance, with a focus on Humanitarian and Human Rights Law, from the Center for International Humanitarian Cooperation in Nairobi, Kenya. Sarah obtained their B.A. in History from Barnard College.
