John Marquardt

John is a regional managing partner of Tax services at BDO, leading over 600 tax professionals in 14 cities across the Midwest.

He has extensive knowledge in all aspects of corporate tax, consulting businesses of all sizes and ownership structures with a focus on private-equity backed businesses. He has more than 28 years of professional tax experience serving clients in diver industries including manufacturing, consumer products, technology, and for-profit healthcare.

John’s experience includes corporate, partnership, mergers and acquisitions, international and multi-state taxation. He has consulted on a broad array of tax issues, including initial public offering (IPO) transactions, mergers and acquisitions, research and development (R&D) credits, tax accounting methods, and accounting for income taxes. Additionally, he has advised on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) exam assistance and strategies focused on planning to defer and minimize tax and the accumulation of wealth.

In addition to public accounting, John was a leader in Ford Motor Company’s Office of Tax Counsel for six years, assisting with numerous strategic initiatives including focuses on reducing direct cash taxes, reducing the company’s global effective tax rate, and driving process improvements in the tax compliance area.
