Michelle L.

Michelle L. has a diverse and extensive work experience. Michelle currently works as a Senior Data Engineer at Beacon Biosignals since February 2023. Previously, they served as a Senior Data Engineer at Alloy from October 2019 to November 2022, where they led the data warehousing and BI tool project, implemented Snowflake, dbt, and Sisense, and wrote custom client-specific Lambda functions using Python and Pandas.

Prior to that, Michelle was the Head of Data Science at Atipica from March 2019 to October 2019, where they led the Data team and managed two Data Analysts, worked with engineering to design and implement product features, and created custom analyses. Michelle also worked as a Data Scientist at Atipica from August 2018 to March 2019.

Michelle has also gained teaching experience as a Senior Data Analytics Instructor at Product School, teaching two part-time cohorts of Product School's Data Analytics course, which covered topics such as SQL, Tableau, Python, and business intelligence. Michelle worked in this role from 2018 to 2019.

Before that, Michelle worked as a Data Scientist at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative from 2017 to 2018, where they used Airflow to build and backfill a complex set of tables tracking student scores. Michelle also created multiple dashboards to visualize metrics and set goals using simulations.

Michelle started their career as a Campaign Analyst at Quantcast from 2015 to 2017, optimizing campaign performance and answering ad hoc analytics questions for clients. Michelle contributed to the CA SQL library by creating new SQL queries.

Additionally, Michelle worked as a Data Scientist and Data Engineer at Civitas Learning from 2014 to 2015, writing algorithms and developing a data science course. Michelle also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of Michigan from 2013 to 2014, teaching and grading for sociology and communications departments.

In 2011, Michelle worked as staff at Teach for America, supporting members in becoming politically active. Michelle also worked as a TA and student visitor at the University of Chicago Polk Brothers Foundation for the Improvement of CPS Math Education from 2008 to 2010, grading tests and assignments and observing math classes in CPS classrooms.

Michelle L. completed their education in a chronological order, starting from their high school education at Hunter College High School, where they obtained a diploma from 2000 to 2006. Michelle then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mathematics at the University of Chicago from 2006 to 2010. Finally, they went on to earn a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan from 2012 to 2014.
