DJ Gilmore has a diverse work experience across multiple companies and roles.
Starting in 2007, Gilmore began working at Caterpillar Inc. and held various positions in power electronics engineering. They served as an Associate Power Electronics Engineer from May 2007 to August 2008, then became a Senior Associate Power Electronics Engineer from August 2008 to August 2009. Gilmore then worked as a Power Electronics Engineer from August 2009 to October 2012, and finally as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer from October 2012 to June 2015. They also served as an Engineering Team Lead from June 2015 to August 2016.
After leaving Caterpillar, Gilmore joined Whirlpool Corporation in September 2016 as the Innovation & Strategy Team Lead. They held this position until May 2018. From May 2018 to October 2019, Gilmore served as the Engineering Manager of the User Experience Hardware Design Team (HMI & Lighting) at Whirlpool. Then, from October 2019 to July 2020, they worked as the Engineering Manager of Advanced Product Development HMI System Integration.
Gilmore then joined Tesla in April 2021 as an Engineering Leader for Energy Field Quality. In this role, they were responsible for addressing field failures in Tesla Energy products, including Solar, Residential, Industrial Storage, and Supercharger. Gilmore successfully resolved design, firmware, and quality issues, resulting in improved product uptime and cost savings. They also worked with multiple organizations globally to enhance the process, tools, metrics, and training related to failure tracking.
Most recently, Gilmore joined Beam Global in December 2022 as a Senior Engineering Manager.
DJ Gilmore attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale from 2000 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Aviation Technology. DJ also acquired several additional certifications throughout their career, including "Quantitative Methods in Systems Engineering" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in March 2019, "Models in Engineering" from MIT in February 2019, "Model-Based Systems Engineering: Documentation and Analysis" from MIT in January 2019, "Architecture of Complex Systems" from MIT in November 2018, "6 Sigma Black Belt" from Caterpillar Inc. in September 2013, "Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic" from the Federal Aviation Administration in August 2003, and "Project Management Professional" from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in November 2011.
