Russell Freeman

Russell Freeman started their work experience as a Software Engineer II at Philips in 2001, where they developed native C MHEG applications. Russell then worked at Videalert Ltd in a Contract Role, where they developed CCTV security algorithms for human entry detection. In 2010, they founded The News Portal, a semi-autonomous news website, and developed it using PHP on top of WordPress and MySQL. Russell later joined Holition as a 3D Developer in 2011 and became the CTO in 2012. At Holition, they managed innovative projects and pioneered applications of Augmented Reality for the luxury retail and fashion sectors. In 2020, they became the CEO/CTO of Beauty by Holition, where they led the development of a cross-platform virtual try-on and diagnostics tool using AI and machine-learning algorithms.

Russell Freeman completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Computer Software Engineering at The University of Manchester from 1998 to 2001. After that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Vision, Imaging and Virtual Environments at UCL from 2003 to 2004. Following their MSc, they continued their education at UCL and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Augmented Reality from 2004 to 2010.
