Matthew Carlson

Matthew Carlson has a diverse work experience history. Matthew started in 2008 as a Delivery Driver for Chances "R" Restaurant. In 2010, they served as a Music Director and Theatre Educator Intern at Spencer Community Theatre. Then, in 2012, they worked as a Circulation/Distribution Assistant for York News Times and as a Retention Specialist for Dynamic Educational Systems, Inc. In 2013, Matthew became a Recruiter and Account Manager at Quiktrak, where they recruited independent contractors and provided training.

After that, in 2014, they joined Beaverton School District as an Elementary Music Teacher, specializing in K-5 music education with over 700 students. Matthew developed and updated the curriculum to meet the students' needs.

Additionally, Matthew currently holds the position of President of the Portland Orff Schulwerk Association since 2018. In this role, they organize workshops and supports local music educators in their professional development.

Matthew Carlson pursued their education at York College from 2005 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a focus on Communications, specifically Theatre. Concurrently, they also completed a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree with a specialization in K-12 Vocal Music Education. Matthew Carlson has additionally obtained certifications, including being recognized as an Orff Schulwerk Certified Teacher by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association in August 2021. Matthew has also acquired an Oregon Teaching License from the Oregon Department of Education, although the specific month and year of obtaining this license are unknown.
