Scott McClain, MPAFF/MA, has a diverse work experience in the education field. Scott started their career as a Spanish teacher in the Beaverton School District in 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a substitute teacher in the Tigard-Tualatin School District in 2016. In 2017, they took on the role of a private Spanish teacher and substitute at Catlin Gabel School, where they taught both students and adults. From 2013 to 2014, Scott worked as an English teaching assistant at the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, providing assistance to non-English speakers with technology and job searches. Scott also volunteered as an ESL teacher at the World Forestry Center in 2019, teaching English to international fellows and assisting with their research projects. In a previous role at Schools Uniting Neighborhoods, Scott served as a Spanish language tutor and electives teacher, utilizing brain-based teaching methodologies.
Scott McClain, MPAFF/MA, attended The University of Kansas from 1980 to 1984, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a focus on Spanish and Central American History. From 1985 to 1991, they pursued further education at The University of Texas at Austin, earning a Master's degree in Latin American Studies and concurrently completing a Master's in Public Administration from The LBJ School of Public Affairs. Scott'sareas of study during this time included US Latin American Relations, Public/Health Care Administration, and Public Management.
