Rachel Strozeski

1st Grade Classroom Teacher at Beaverton School District

Rachel Strozeski has over 30 years of experience in education, primarily as a classroom teacher. Rachel started their career in 1992 at Colegio Internacional de Caracas, where they taught 3rd grade. Rachel then worked at Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro from 1994 to 1996 as a 2nd and 4th grade classroom teacher.

From 1996 to 2002, Rachel taught 2nd and 3rd grade at the International Community School of Addis Ababa. Rachel then worked at Lincoln American School in 2002 as a 2nd grade classroom teacher.

In 2003, Rachel joined The Columbus School as a 2nd grade classroom teacher and team leader. Rachel developed integrated units, facilitated student-led conferences, and participated in bilingual meetings with parents and staff.

From 2005 to 2010, Rachel taught 2nd grade at the American International School of Bamako and also served as the Elementary Lead Teacher. Rachel coordinated events such as author visits, literacy month, and Family Reading Night.

From 2010 to 2022, Rachel worked at Hong Kong Academy, initially as a 1st grade classroom teacher and later as the Primary School Literacy Coordinator and Coach. In addition to teaching in an inclusive classroom, they provided leadership, mentorship, and collaboration in inquiry-based teaching and learning. Rachel also built staff capacity through professional conversations, co-teaching, workshops, and coaching cycles.

Currently, Rachel is employed by Beaverton School District as a 1st grade classroom teacher.

Rachel Strozeski obtained their High School Diploma from Bexley High School in 1985. Rachel then went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education & Early Childhood Education from Butler University between 1985 and 1989. In 1998, they pursued a Master's degree in Education: Curriculum & Instruction from Portland State University, which they completed in 2001. Later, they attended Portland State University again from 2007 to 2010 to obtain a Reading Specialist Endorsement, focusing on Literacy. Additionally, Rachel Strozeski has a certification in Elementary K-8 and a Reading Endorsement from the Ohio Department of Education, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
