Brian Barrett

Brian Barrett is a seasoned professional in the field of product development and research and development (R&D), currently serving as Senior Manager of Product Development R&D at BD since October 2025. Prior to this role, Brian held the position of Associate Director of Product Development at Sarcura, leading cross-functional R&D teams focused on next-generation cell therapy manufacturing. Brian's experience includes roles as R&D Project Manager at BD, where investigations into complex performance issues were conducted, and as Senior R&D Manager at BD Biosciences, overseeing multidisciplinary teams in developing disruptive technologies. Brian was also a founding team member at GenCell Biosystems, driving innovation and securing multiple patents. Academic credentials include a PhD in Engineering, Biotechnology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Limerick.
