John Stewart

John Stewart, Ph.D., CFA, FRM, is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at BECU, where they oversee enterprise risk, credit risk, cybersecurity, legal governance, and compliance functions for a credit union serving over one million members. With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, they have previously held roles such as Chief Risk Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle and SVP Risk Quantification at JPMorganChase/Washington Mutual. John’s extensive background also includes consulting at Oliver Wyman and Moss Adams LLP, where they advised financial institutions on strategic and risk-related challenges. Additionally, they serve as a lecturer at the University of Washington, teaching graduate-level courses in financial risk modeling. John holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and dual degrees in Philosophy and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
