Debal Mitra

Debal Mitra has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Debal is currently working as a Senior Program Manager at Climate Policy Initiative since 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Consultant at IIFCL Projects Ltd from 2021 to 2022. Before that, they held the position of Senior Director - Corporate Ratings at CARE Ratings Ltd. from 2020 to 2021.

Debal Mitra's previous experience includes working as a Senior VP & Head - Risk at Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited for a significant period from 2014 to 2019. During their tenure there, they supervised risk appraisal in various sectors, conducted sector research, and implemented enterprise risk management practices. Debal was also a panel speaker at the EQ CleanTech Summit, where they discussed financing challenges in renewable energy.

Debal served as the Vice President - Financial Advisory at Feedback Infrastructure Services Pvt. Ltd. from 2011 to 2014, where they provided financial advice and guidance. Before that, they worked as a Deputy General Manager at Credit Analysis & Research Ltd. (CARE Ratings) from 2009 to 2011. In this role, they managed a team of analysts, engaged in business development activities, and authored credit perspectives and industry notes.

Prior to their role at CARE Ratings, Debal Mitra worked as an AVP at HSBC from 2005 to 2009. Debal started their career at ICRA, where they served as a Senior Analyst from 1999 to 2004. Debal'sinitial professional experience was as an Assistant Manager - Mortgage Finance at ITC from 1996 to 1999. Debal began their career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Gas Authority of India Limited from 1993 to 1994.

Debal Mitra completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) with a specialization in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. This program was undertaken from 1994 to 1996.

Prior to that, Debal Mitra pursued a Bachelor's degree in Technology (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. This course spanned from 1989 to 1993.

Debal Mitra completed their secondary education at Delhi Public School - R. K. Puram, earning a degree called AISSCE(XII) between 1976 and 1989.

It is also worth mentioning that Debal Mitra has obtained a certification titled "ICBS005: Climate Change: Financial Risks and Opportunities" from the Imperial College Business School in July 2021.
