BelayIP  was started in 2016 by Joshua Wert in Helsinki, Finland as a patent prosecution firm and for IPR strategy consulting. Being one of the few US patent practitioners in the Nordics, the initial focus of BelayIP is on providing localized US expertise to the Nordic market. BelayIP is working with inventors, companies and European patent firms around Finland handling both US prosecution and global portfolio management.

The mantra at BelayIP is predictability. BelayIP seeks to offer a trusted and reliable work product to its clients in a predictable manner and at a predictable price. Handling US matters from the Nordic region allows primarily for smoother communication between clients and attorneys. Additionally, BelayIP offers most services at a fixed fee rate so that costs are reasonable and predictable.

BelayIP offers a full range of patent filing and management services for applicants and companies. In most instances, a US patent is the most valuable patent in a portfolio. As such, BelayIP focuses on preparing a patent application for its best chances of success in both the US Patent & Trademark Office and in the US economy. However, attention is also given to each application so that it will be able to best take advantage of the other major patent systems in the world, primarily the European system and Chinese system.
