Leonardo Calle

Leonardo J. Calle C. has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Leonardo J. is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Digi Belize since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Smart Belize as the Director of Network Services from 2015 to 2021. During their time at Smart Belize, they were responsible for the overall strategy, design, engineering, and operations of the mobile and broadband fixed networks. Leonardo J. successfully rolled out LTE, UMTS, and fixed broadband networks, increasing sites from 50 to 120.

Before joining Smart Belize, Leonardo worked at Huawei Technologies as a Technical Director and Project Manager from 2013 to 2015. Their achievements include the successful rollout and implementation of the EPC Central America Project, which involved the swap-out from Nokia PS Core Nodes to Huawei EPC and the integration of LTE access in Panama.

Prior to that, they were an Integration Manager at Ericsson from 2011 to 2012, where they were involved in the integration and testing of Ericsson 3G and LTE projects in the Caribbean. Leonardo J. also worked at Nokia Siemens Networks as a Technical Manager for the introduction of the NSN Packet Core in Chile.

Leonardo's career includes roles at Ericsson, where they served as a CORE Integration Manager in Honduras and Guatemala and as a Configuration Engineer in Panama. Leonardo J. also worked at Smart Belize as a Technical Project Manager and at Millicom International Cellular as the Head of Network and CORE Operations. Leonardo J. began their career at ENTEL BOLIVIA as the CORE Network Operations Responsible in the Santa Cruz area.
