Douglas James has extensive work experience in the law enforcement field. Douglas began their career as a Law Enforcement Aide, supporting Special Agents and Intelligence Research Specialists with their investigative and intelligence collection efforts. Douglas then served as a Special Agent, conducting complex drug and money laundering investigations. In this role, they worked undercover, managed human sources, conducted wire intercepts, and performed surveillance operations.
Douglas later became a Group Supervisor, leading a DEA Hi-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force Group focused on investigating transnational heroin trafficking groups. Douglas supervised a diverse group of investigators from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Douglas then served as a Resident Agent in Charge, managing and directing the investigative, regulatory, and intelligence collection efforts of a stand-alone DEA office. This office covered a diverse four-county region in Northern California.
Douglas later became a Staff Coordinator, where they developed and planned complex counter narcotics enforcement operations with inter-agency partners and host nation governments. Douglas also served as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge, both in Western Washington State and in the four-state region of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. In these roles, they managed and directed DEA's investigative efforts, utilized intelligence-driven enforcement strategies, and led a diverse workforce.
Most recently, Douglas served as the Director of Security for the Bellevue School District.
Douglas James attended the University of Washington from 1988 to 1991, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Society and Justice.
