Darren Lipomi is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Rochester, a position held since July 2024. Prior to this role, Darren served at UC San Diego from July 2012 to July 2024 as an Associate Dean for Students and as a Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in the NanoEngineering curriculum, leading a research group focused on ultra mechanically compliant organic electronic materials for applications in energy, healthcare, and neuro and behavioral science. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship with the US Intelligence Community at Stanford University from 2010 to June 2012 and graduate studies at Harvard University from 2005 to 2010. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University, a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Physics from Boston University. Darren also holds a certificate in Entrepreneurship from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
