Donald W. Pearson, Ed.S. has a comprehensive work experience in the field of education. Donald W. began their career in 1984 as a Teacher at Benton Harbor Area Schools and worked in this position until 2014. During this time, they also served as the Coordinator of S.T.E.A.M. Literacy Initiatives/Consultant/Liaison to Western Michigan University from 2011 to 2012. In this role, they developed project-based curriculum, collaborated with professors from Western Michigan University, and facilitated professional development sessions on diversity and literacy initiatives.

From 2014 to 2015, Pearson worked as a Reading Specialist at Benton Harbor Area Schools, where they were responsible for coordinating the intervention program for students in grades 6 to 8. Donald W. also collaborated with the building principal on data and assessments.

In 2015, they became the International Academy at Hull Principal, where they implemented a dual language program and evaluated literacy initiatives and programs.

In 2016, Pearson transitioned to the role of Benton Harbor High School Principal at Benton Harbor Area Schools. In this position, they focused on changing the school's culture and climate, incorporating systems and protocols to improve the learning environment. Donald W. also ensured teacher accountability and assisted students with academic and social challenges.

In 2018, they briefly served as the Principal at Lakeview Public Schools before returning to Benton Harbor Area Schools.

Additionally, Pearson has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University since 2011, teaching prospective teachers about content literacy, cultural literacy, and the relationship between literacy and student achievement.

Donald W. Pearson, Ed.S. has a diverse and extensive education history. Donald W. obtained their Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Western Michigan University in 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Specialist in Education degree in Educational Leadership in 2014 and a Master of Arts degree in Literacy Studies in 2011, both from Western Michigan University. In 1979, Donald completed their Bachelor of Science degree at Western Michigan University, majoring in Sociology and minoring in African-American Studies. Additionally, they hold an Associate TCIS certification from the College of Human Ecology's Residential Child Care Project at Cornell University, obtained in 2017.
