Peter Nichols

Peter Nichols is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in water rights, water quality, environmental, and conservation law. Currently serving as Of Counsel at Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti LLP since 2012, Peter has dedicated over two decades to this specialty, including a partnership at Trout Raley Montano Witwer & Freeman PC. Previous roles include serving as Interim Executive Director of the Colorado Water Trust and practicing as a staff attorney with Garfield County Legal Services. Peter also brings a wealth of knowledge from a consulting practice and a background in oil shale operations with Unocal. Educational credentials include a JD in Environmental Law from the University of Colorado, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Biology from Colorado College. In addition to legal practice, Peter has experience as an international mountaineering guide and course director for the Colorado Outward Bound School.
