Bob Gunion is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in control systems and software engineering. Currently serving as the Control System Architect at ITER Organization since March 2021, Gunion coordinates multiple operational applications and designs the Pulse Schedule Preparation system. At Berkeley Lab since 2002, Gunion has held several key roles, including Control Systems and Instrumentation Technical Lead, where performance requirements for control system design were established for the ALS upgrade project, and as Leader of the Accelerator Controls Group, overseeing the controls for the Advanced Light Source. Previous experience includes software engineering positions at Silicon Energy and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, along with a postdoctoral associate role at the University of Utah, culminating in a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder. Additionally, Gunion volunteered as Fleet Captain at the Berkeley Yacht Club.
