Christian Messe is a highly experienced scientific software developer and researcher specializing in aerospace and nuclear fusion applications. Currently at Berkeley Lab, Christian is engaged in developing a finite-element code for modeling the thermo-electric behavior of superconducting cables and magnets in the INFUSE project. Prior roles include positions at Black Engine Aerospace, where Christian contributed to rocket engine predesign and led a turbopump project, and at the German Aerospace Center, focusing on reusable rocket system analysis. Christian also held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Colorado Boulder, working on finite-element frameworks for aerospace structures, and at the University of Stuttgart, researching hypersonic flight systems. With early research experience supported by the German Research Foundation and various internships, Christian holds a Doctor of Engineering and a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart.
