HPC Performance Engineer

Lisa Claus, PhD, is an HPC Performance Engineer at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Berkeley Lab, with roles in both the User Engagement Group and the Application Performance Group since January 2020. Prior to this, Lisa held a postdoctoral role focused on software development for Exascale Computing projects, specifically working on the high-performance scalable math library STRUMPACK. Experience includes internships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where Lisa developed algorithms for algebraic Multigrid smoothers, and research roles at Bergische Universität Wuppertal, resulting in a PhD in Numerical Mathematics. Educational background includes an MS in Applied Mathematics and a BS in Mathematical Economics, all from Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
