Mahek Logantha

Graduate Student Researcher At LBL Bella Center

Mahek Logantha is a Graduate Student Researcher at Berkeley Lab's BELLA Center, focusing on the development of high average power, ultrafast fiber laser technology for laser-plasma accelerators aimed at industrial and medical applications, while leading projects involving fiber spectral combining and FPGA-based control systems integrated with machine learning. Previously, Mahek served as Project Manager for UCI HyperXite in the SpaceX Hyperloop Competition, overseeing team finances and project goals, and as Pneumatics Subsystem Lead, designing a redundant pneumatic braking system. Prior research experience includes contributions to thermopile technology at UC Irvine's Nano Thermal Energy Research Group and simulations in ultra-fast high intensity plasma physics within the Dollar Research Group. Additionally, Mahek interned at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, focusing on HVAC systems in automotive applications. Mahek is pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, following a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine.
