Ronald Kam

Graduate Student Researcher, Ceder Group

Ronald Kam is a dedicated researcher specializing in materials science and engineering, currently serving as a Graduate Student Researcher in the Ceder Group at Berkeley Lab since August 2021. Experience includes investigating thermodynamics and electrochemistry of earth-abundant materials for Li-ion batteries, alongside utilizing the Materials Project software for electronic structure calculations. Prior roles include a Battery Engineering Intern at Natron Energy, focusing on sodium-ion battery materials, and an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Persson Group at Berkeley Lab, studying solid electrolyte interphase formation in Li-ion batteries. Additional experience encompasses internships at Tesla, where Ronald developed silicon and graphite composite anodes, and earlier research at the Keasling Lab investigating biochemical pathways in E. coli. Ronald holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Science, and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
