Steven Singer

Steven Singer is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in scientific research and leadership. Currently serving as Program Director at ARPA-E since May 2023, Steven has also held various positions at Berkeley Lab since July 2008, including Senior Scientist and Director of the Microbial Communities Group. Previously, Steven was the Deputy Vice President for Deconstruction at the Joint BioEnergy Institute from May 2016 to May 2023. Additional roles include Research Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Staff Scientist both at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of California-Berkeley. Steven obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison between 1996 and 2001.
