Dr. Lenora Hammonds serves as the Dean at Berklee College of Music since August 2024, and as a member of the Jazz Vocal Advisory Committee for Juilliard Jazz since July 2018, collaborating with prominent vocal jazz professionals. Previously, Dr. Hammonds held multiple roles at North Carolina Central University from August 2005 to August 2024, including Full Professor, Department Chair, and Director of Graduate Programs in Jazz Studies. Additionally, Dr. Hammonds founded the NCCU Teaching Artist Certificate Program, a pioneering initiative in arts education at HBCUs. Other professional experiences include faculty positions at Brevard Music Center and artistic director/co-founder of the Harmony Program in NYC. Dr. Hammonds earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University and advanced degrees in Jazz Performance and Music from East Carolina University and Berklee College of Music, respectively.
