Krystal Prime Banfield, Ed.D. has extensive work experience in the field of education and community engagement. Krystal Prime currently holds the position of Vice President of Education Outreach and Social Entrepreneurship at Berklee College of Music, a role they have held since July 2019. Prior to this, they served in various positions at Berklee College of Music, including Associate Vice President of Education Outreach and Social Entrepreneurship, Dean of Berklee City Music, Senior Director of Berklee City Music, and Director of Berklee City Music.
Before joining Berklee College of Music, Banfield worked as the Director of Education and Community Engagement at VocalEssence from May 2005 to December 2006. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Education at the American Composers Forum from November 1997 to April 2005. Krystal Prime Banfield, Ed.D. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a focus on violin and vocal performance from Howard University in 1988. Krystal Prime then pursued a Master's degree and post-graduate work in Music, Vocal Pedagogy, Ethnomusicology, and Education at Indiana University Bloomington from 1991 to 1997. In 1999, they attended the University of St. Thomas, where they earned their Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Critical Pedagogy, and Curriculum Development. Throughout their educational journey, Krystal has consistently emphasized their passion for music and education.
