Joseph Romano has a diverse background in engineering and robotics. Joseph started their career as an Engineering Intern at Picatinny Arsenal in 2006. In 2010, they interned as a Robotics Intern at Willow Garage. In 2012, they worked as a Senior Robotics Engineer at Rethink Robotics. From 2013 to 2015, they served as a Research Scientist at Kiva Systems, where they led research and development on robotic manipulation platforms and co-founded the Amazon Robotics Challenge. Currently, Joseph holds the position of Director of Engineering at Berkshire Grey, where they previously served as the VP of Engineering.
Joseph Romano has a strong educational background in both Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. Joseph earned their Bachelor's degrees in Engineering Mechanic and Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania, obtaining a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2007 to 2010. Joseph then continued their studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where they successfully attained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, completing their program from 2007 to 2012.
