Akshay Gupta is the SVP, Head of Catastrophe Analytics & Engineering at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. Akshay has over 20 years of experience in the engineering and risk management industries.

Gupta started their career as a Principal Engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates in 1998. Akshay quickly rose through the ranks and became a Senior Vice President, Director of Catastrophe Risk Engineering at AIR Worldwide in 2008. In this role, they were responsible for the development and management of the Catastrophe Risk Engineering practice. Akshay also developed catastrophe risk and supply chain risk models.

In 2014, Gupta joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance as the SVP, Head of Catastrophe Analytics & Engineering. In this role, they are responsible for the development and management of the catastrophe analytics team. Akshay also leads the company’s efforts to assess and mitigate risk from natural and man-made catastrophes.

Akshay Gupta earned their Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Stanford University. Akshay also has a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.
