Denise Dekker has extensive experience in the field of medical microbiology and bacteriology, currently serving as the Research Group Leader for "One Health Bacteriology" and Head of Laboratory Group at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine since August 2009. Prior roles include Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Fellow during the Ph.D. studies at the same institute, as well as International Laboratory Coordinator for RTS'S Vaccine Trial at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Earlier in their career, Denise worked as a Biomedical Scientist in the Department of Microbiology at The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust from 2003 to 2007. Denise holds a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from the University of Hamburg, a Master of Science in Clinical Tropical Microbiology from UCL, and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Kingston University.
