Best Day Foundation
Alexis Downham is an experienced educator and administrator with a strong focus on special education. Currently serving as an Administrator and Special Education Teacher at Virginia Beach City Public Schools since August 2014, Alexis has also contributed to the Best Day Foundation, Inc. as the Co-Chair for both the Chesapeake Bay and NJ Chapters since February 2008, promoting confidence and self-esteem in children and young adults with special needs through adventure activities. Prior experience includes coaching at Mama Bootcamp from May 2014 to March 2017, and working as a Special Education Teacher at California Virtual Academies from 2012 to June 2014. Alexis holds an MSED in Special Education and Teaching from Monmouth University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Teacher Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, along with an Ed.S in Educational Leadership and Administration from Old Dominion University.
