Larry Cuculic

SVP & General Counsel at Best Western

As senior vice president and general counsel for Best Western® Hotels & Resorts, Larry Cuculic provides counsel, leadership and guidance on all legal issues relating to Best Western's corporate environment and membership. He is also responsible for setting and managing strategic direction, and for providing guidance on corporate legal issues, to include board and governance matters. Additionally, he provides advice and assistance to the board of directors and to Best Western’s membership with regard to Best Western’s regulatory documents, and membership rights, duties and obligations.

Best Western’s legal department has a staff of eight that includes five attorneys. The department provides legal advice and assistance with regard to contracts, intellectual property, international operations, litigation and membership matters.

Before joining Best Western, Larry was senior vice president general counsel and corporate secretary for Lafayette, Ind.-based Wabash National Corporation (NYSE: WNC). Previously, Larry served as vice president legal and corporate secretary for American Commercial Lines, Inc. in Jeffersonville, Ind., and was a partner in the law firm Gambs, Mucker & Bauman. Before retiring from the U.S. Army, Larry served as a Judge Advocate General’s Corps officer in various legal positions, including appointment as a military judge.

Larry received his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School. He also earned an LL.M. degree from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Va., and graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.
