Ido Margalit's work experience begins with their current role as Co-Founder and CEO of BetterSeeds Ltd, which they started in April 2017. At BetterSeeds, they focus on using gene editing technologies, specifically CRISPR, to redesign crops for sustainable agriculture in the face of climate change.

In 2003 to 2005, Ido pursued a Master of Science in Management of Technology (MScM) from New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering. Ido later attended the Merage foundation lifescience executive program at the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business in 2008. Additionally, Ido has obtained certifications in Plant Variety Protection under the UPOV Convention from UPOV and the WIPO Academy in 2012, as well as a LES Licensing and Tech Transfer certification from LES Benelux in an unspecified year.
