Robert Lurz has extensive work experience in the field of flight test engineering and military aviation. Robert began their career in 1989 as a Lieutenant Colonel and pilot in the United States Air Force, where they held various positions including operational planner and joint special operations planner. Lurz also gained experience in the development, writing, and reviewing of service and joint doctrine during their time in the Air Force. In 2010, they joined Qualis Corporation as a Flight Test Engineer, where they planned, executed, and reported on USAF developmental tests for new fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Robert also served as a test director for the HH-60U helicopter developmental test program and as a test engineer for the HC/MC-130J developmental test program. In 2012, Lurz joined Bevilacqua Research Corporation as a Flight Test Engineer, where they continued to be involved in planning, executing, and reporting on USAF developmental tests for new aircraft, including the RC-26 radio upgrades.
Robert Lurz has an extensive education history. Robert completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland from 1983 to 1988. Following this, they attended Squadron Officers School in 1996. In 1999 and 2000, Lurz pursued a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Additionally, they attended Air Command and Staff College in 2001, Joint Forces Staff College in 2005, and Air War College in 2006. Although the degrees and fields of study from the latter institutions are not specified, it can be inferred that Lurz acquired an advanced level of education and training in the fields of aviation, military and warfare.
