Product Security Architect at Beyond Identity

George Jenkins is an experienced professional with a diverse background in software engineering, cybersecurity, and application security. George has a strong focus on developing and implementing secure software practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

In their most recent role at Beyond Identity, George served as an Application Security Engineer, where they were responsible for ensuring the security of applications. We do not have specific start and end dates for this position.

Prior to that, George worked at ADX Labs, Inc. as an Application Security Engineer. In this role, they developed and implemented an application security program, worked closely with product teams to secure the software development lifecycle, and performed secure code reviews and vulnerability triage.

George also worked at Target as a Senior Software Engineer - Cybersecurity. George played a key role in modernizing SIEM ingest pipelines, developed a rules engine for alerting, and led a team in creating a dynamic graph-based asset visualization tool to enhance SOC team investigations.

Before entering the cybersecurity field, George held various software engineering roles. As a Software Engineer II / Senior Software Engineer at Spok, they focused on developing cloud-native authentication, authorization, and auditing mechanisms and conducted security reviews of developer code.

George's earlier experience includes working as an Airport Rescue Firefighter at Pierre Regional Airport, where they were involved in fire and rescue operations, and as a Software Developer / Lead Software Developer at Smart Software Solutions, Inc., where they led development teams and worked on projects such as content and learning management systems.

Additionally, George has experience in hardware and sales, having served as a Hardware & Tools Sales Lead at Orchard Supply Hardware.

George's academic background includes a role at the University of Waikato, where they worked on systems integration and software development for their thesis project.

George Jenkins has a strong education background in the field of computer science and cybersecurity. George obtained a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2020 and 2023. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (Hons) degree in Computer Science at The University of Waikato, graduating between 2010 and 2014.

In addition to their academic achievements, George also holds several professional certifications. In August 2018, they obtained the Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org. In November 2020, they achieved the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². Furthermore, they obtained the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification in July 2021, as well as the GIAC Advisory Board certification from GIAC Certifications. Their latest certification, the GIAC Cloud Security Essentials (GCLD), was obtained in April 2022 from GIAC Certifications.
